Hello,
You have applied a good treatment with Voltaren Emulgel... If it's the regular form, make sure to apply 4 times a day every 4-6 hours; if it's the extra-strength form, apply twice a day every 8-12 hours. It may take a few applications before you get significant relief, so give yourself 48-72 hours to determine if Voltaren is providing enough relief.
Alternatively, you can use Robax Platinum. This contains ibuprofen (equivalent to Advil) - an anti-inflammatory - and methocarbamol - a muscle relaxant. Being in tablet form, the effect could be slightly superior to Voltaren and has the added effect of a muscle relaxant. Robax Platinum is taken 1 caplet every 6 hours with food. Side effects generally include drowsiness due to the muscle relaxant.
Finally, for upcoming workouts, it may be suggested to take Advil 30 minutes beforehand to prevent pain and inflammation that may ensue
I hope this helps. If there is anything else, please do not hesitate to contact me again and I will be happy to answer you.
Sincerely,
David Tan, pharmacist
