Hello, for this type of insomnia (waking up very early) there are very few over the counter sleeping pills that are effective. You can try melatonin 3 mg. I recommend that you take 1 tablet just before going to bed. If this doesn't work after a week, it would be best to see your doctor about getting a prescription sleep aid. A few other things you can do to help you sleep are: avoid drinking alcohol in the evening, avoid eating a large meal in the evening, exercise during the day (not in the evening, exercise at least 2 hours before going to bed), avoid drinking tea or coffee in the afternoon and evening. Also, when you wake up very early, you can try to do quiet activities such as reading a book and avoiding watching TV or being on the computer. By doing quiet activities, there is a better chance that your sleep will return and you can go back to bed for a few hours.
