I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, along with insulin resistance. I don't have my period for several months, and I am unable to lose weight, despite the regular physical activity I do. I had to stop taking the pill, which made me depressed. I have not been able to get an appointment with my family doctor, who is off work. While waiting for the deadlines of my procedures, is there anything that could help me regulate my cycle and reduce my symptoms, whether it be a natural supplement or a drugstore product?

Hello! No "natural" supplement or other non-prescription product (approved by Health Canada) can stabilize your menstrual cycle. If your situation requires it, you will have to consult a walk-in clinic. When it comes to insulin resistance and weight loss, there is no magic solution. The only sustainable way to lose weight is to be in a caloric deficit: burn more than you consume. I'm not talking about starving yourself to death, but cutting 500 calories a day can help you lose 1 to 2 pounds a week. A nutritionist could also help you, as well as a workout program tailored to your needs.
