I have a big ankle sprain and I have cramps in my calf, is this normal?

36-year-old womanil y a 3 ans
Hello, I sprained my ankle a week ago, the inflammation has decreased a lot and I can walk on it a little (I was several days almost 4 not being able to walk on it) but I have cramps in my calf more frequently in the morning and in the evening, is it normal, should I consult even if I see an improvement since a few days. Is there anything I can do to help? Thank you!

Hello,
Cramps often go away on their own in a few days. They could be caused by the decreased activity of your muscle due to your sprain. A medical consultation for your cramps is not necessary at this time
To prevent cramps, I recommend getting good fluid intake, activating your muscle (as much as possible) during the day as well as avoiding crossing your legs while sitting.
When cramps appear, try massaging your calf until the cramp ends.
If your sprain symptoms persist, you should go see a doctor to make sure nothing is broken.
Have a nice day!
