Is there a natural supplement or food that helps combat winter fatigue and lack of concentration?

Since winter has arrived, I have been feeling very tired and have trouble concentrating. I am not currently taking any medication, except for asthma. I have a history of depression, so I am alert to the symptoms, but other than the fatigue and lack of concentration, I don't feel anything that would lead me to believe that I am starting to feel depressed or anything. My hours are stable and I don't have insomnia; I sleep about 8 hours a night.

A very valid question! However, you should know that taking supplements or food are not very effective in these cases. Besides taking a vitamin D supplement (all Quebecers should take one because of our low exposure to sunlight during the spring, winter and fall months), I simply advise you to eat well, i.e. eat enough vegetables and fruits (in that order).

That being said, there are some very interesting efficacy data about light therapy. Not being an expert on the subject, I invite you to read more on the subject, such as through this article from La Presse published in 2015 (http://www.lapresse.ca/vivre/sante/201511/17/01-4921730-luminotherapie-mode-demploi.php). Exercising outdoors is also very effective in improving the symptoms you describe.
