Exceptional medications. My rheumatologist prescribes me TRAMACET 37.5mg/325mg of acetaminophen for pain. For this medication I have an authorization for the precipitated product. The product I am being served is AURO TRAMADOL acetaminophen 37.5/325. I have discussed with my pharmacist that my authorization is for the ORIGINAL drug and not for the generic for special reasons. What do you think? I also have an authorization for TRIDURAL Co.L.A.100 mg ID, they would not serve it to me?

Hello ma'am,
An exception patient authorization is for a drug, theactive ingredient, which in this case is the combination of tramadol and acetaminophen, branded or generic. That being said, the branded product, Tramacet, is discontinued at the time of this writing...
I hope I have clarified this for you.
As for Tridural, if there is a question of refusal to fill the prescription, you should redirect your question to your pharmacist.
I will remain available if you have any further questions!
Sincerely,
Tom Samaha, Pharmacist
