Hi, I know people who take vitamins/supplements, etc. I don't really understand the need or importance of taking them.

Hello madam, you are right to ask yourself about this!
In general, supplementation will only be beneficial in case of deficiency. In Canada, only vitamin D supplementation is recommended from the start.
Moreover, the quantities of most of the vitamins and elements found in this type of product are insufficient to compensate for a deficiency.
I am personally of the opinion that the consumption of fruits and vegetables is sufficient, if no deficiency has been detected in your case.
