Could stopping the Pill be the cause of my pain? Due to a change in my body?

25-year-old womana year ago
Hello, I am a woman in my 20's and for the past few weeks I have been experiencing pain with each sexual intercourse/penetration with my partner (5 year relationship). It is a pain at the bottom of the vagina and not at the entrance. It is a pain that looks like "he went too deep" when he does not go deep. It is a pain in the lower abdomen, more on the right side than on the left side and it lasts a few hours after intercourse. I have had this pain for a few days once in a while and it was probably because my cervix was lower due to the time in my menstrual cycle. But now it has been persisting for 2-3 weeks. And it worries me especially since we are starting the process of having a baby. I just stopped the contraceptive pill a month ago in order to get pregnant. The pains appeared almost at the same time. I read quickly about dyspareunia.

Good morning, ma'am,
Dyspareunia is the general term used to describe pain during sexual relations. It can have several causes.
I have not found a reliable reference that deals with this kind of symptom after stopping contraception, but considering that you felt this at about the same time, it is not impossible.
It may take a few weeks to return to a 'normal' menstrual cycle and there are many possible symptoms.
I am reassured that the discomfort does not usually persist, but if you report that it has been 2-3 weeks, to monitor the situation and consult, if only as a precaution, if the situation persists for 1 month.
I believe that activities that may cause or worsen this type of pain should be avoided until it is completely healed, such as more intense or vigorous intercourse.
For intercourse, use a water-based lubricant such as KY before and during intercourse as needed if you have not already done so.
I will be available if you have any further questions!
