69-year-old man with suspected shingles
Plaques started 1 week ago. There was no pain until the last few hours, but the rash has decreased a lot.

Good morning, ma'am,
The shingles episode heals on its own. Treatment, when started in time, can make the healing faster and reduce the pain due to the infection (treatment does not reduce the post-herpetic pain that some people might have).
I hope I have been helpful to you and I am available if you have any further questions!
