Following a cold, it is possible that your red eyes are from viral conjunctivitis. In such a case, the drops will help a little with the irritation, but will not make the redness go away. This usually persists for 5 to 7 days and goes away on its own.

In such a situation, the biggest risk is to infect those around you. This is because viral conjunctivitis is highly contagious. Therefore, you should avoid touching your eyes and wash your hands often.

If the redness worsens over the next few days, or if you begin to have difficulty looking at the light or if the redness is still present in 5 days, I invite you to go see a doctor or an optometrist.
