How to manage diarrhea with Plaquenil?

Question

Is there any way to relieve diarrhea and gas after taking a medication? I started plaquenil 400mg and I have a lot of gas + diarrhea 1 to 3x/day. I have to start methotrexate in 2 weeks and I'm afraid it will get worse. Is there any way to control this? Thank you it's been over two weeks since I started. But I will try to divide the dose, and talk to my pharmacist if it doesn't work out! thanks!

Hello. When the medication causes this effect, it is suggested to separate the intake of Plaquenil in 2, taking 1 tablet twice a day with meals instead of taking both tablets together. Also be aware that this effect tends to diminish over time.
