My 3 year old boy has a red mouth?

My 3 year old has a red mouth and it spreads to his cheeks. Don't get a fever. It's been like this for over a week. We put polysporin which helped for 2-3 days, but it's back to worse than it was. He tells me it hurts. Is there anything I can put on to make the redness go down or should I go see a doctor?

Hi, sorry to read about his troubles!
Does he lick around his mouth?
I think a protective ointment like a thin layer of Vaseline would help. It can be applied as often as needed, it is safe even if some is ingested.
I encourage you to try this for a few days, and to avoid rubbing the face too much if it is something that is done for example if it drools.
Hopefully this has been helpful, please feel free if you have any other questions!
