My son has had a fever for 3 days and his nose is congested and runny. The Tylenol only relieves him a little, it takes doses every 4 hours for the fever to diminish. He remains negative to covid
I wanted to know after how long I should worry or consult.

Hello ma'am, you mention that your child has had a fever for 3 days, would it be possible to know the temperature and how you measured it?
Thank you

Unfortunately, I don't have a rectal thermometer. I have a contactless one.

It varies between 38.3 and 39.3

Thanks for the feedback, I'm sorry for the delay, I never saw the notification!
The result of a non-contact thermometer cannot be used with certainty because many factors can alter the measurement and these devices are not accurate.
I strongly suggest using a rectal thermometer (or oral thermometer if your child is 5 years or older)
If the temperature indicates a fever, continue Tylenol every 4 hours but no more than 5 times in a 24-hour period. Encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids
I also strongly suggest nasal hygiene with saline solution such as Hydrasense or Sinus Rinse, which can be done as often as needed during the day and at least 30 minutes before bedtime
If the fever lasts 72 hours, if it does not improve after 7 days, a doctor should be consulted.
I hope I have been helpful. I will remain available if you have any further questions
