Should I stop taking Glumetza or how can I reduce the side effects?

Hello ! For more than 7 months I have been taking glucophage 1500 mg/day. My doctor suggested I take glumetza 2000 mg. As I work at night this option is really more advantageous. Since the change of medication I had nausea, abdominal pain and vomiting.

Hello,
How long ago did you make the change to Glumetza?

About 1 week and a half

Glumetza generally causes fewer side effects than regular metformin. However, nausea or diarrhea may still occur. I have the impression that the increase to 2000 mg is not well tolerated by your digestive system. I suggest you decrease the dosage to 1000 mg x 1 week and then increase to 2000 mg to improve tolerance. However, if the diarrhea does not subside, you may need to go back to Metformin as you were taking before
I hope this answers your question
