How long does the gastro virus stay in a house?

Once the virus has left the bodies of all occupants in the home, it can survive for a few hours on inert surfaces. Thus, it is recommended that all surfaces that come into direct contact with the occupants while they are on or off the toilet be washed with soap. It is also recommended that all occupants of a home wash their hands assiduously and at least before putting their hands to their mouths (e.g., before eating).
