How long does a virus such as covid, flu or gastro stay on surfaces?

I am often in contact with my youngest cousins aged 3 to 11 years old so I wanted to take the precautionary step to avoid getting gastro or other.

Hello Ma'am,
Many factors go into knowing how long a virus can live on a surface (the type of surface, its porosity, heat, humidity level, exposure to light).
In other words, you can't be sure that there is no virus on a surface at all after X minutes/hours/day.
This is why hand washing is recommended after touching a potentially contaminated surface.
