Hello Madam, it is a very good reflex to check the risk of interaction with your medications.
Here are the problematic situations:
- It is contraindicated to use anti-inflammatory medication while on Eliquis, as it can significantly increase the risk of bleeding. Taking Tylenol (if you don't have an allergy) would therefore be preferred, depending on your needs.
- Fluconazole can also increase the risk of bleeding by interfering with your body's elimination of Eliquis. You may therefore end up with a greater anticoagulant effect.
- Moderate alcohol consumption is adequate with your medication, unless otherwise advised by your doctor.
Note that consuming grapefruit (or its juice, Seville oranges, grapefruits, and limes) may also increase the effect of Eliquis. The effects of grapefruit can persist for up to 3 days, even with as little as 200mL.
So, if you think you need a drug off the shelf in a pharmacy, as you are using a drug with a high risk of interaction and with the possibility of bleeding, it would be safest to discuss with your community pharmacist the risks and benefits for use of the products.
I hope I have answered your question.
