Hello ma'am, I'm sorry to read about your troubles!
Unfortunately too little data regarding this drug during breastfeeding exists.
The references I have found indicate that the drug may decrease milk production, even after one dose.
For this reason, and the fact that other solutions are available and safer, I do not recommend using this medication if you are breastfeeding.
The best solution for nasal congestion, runny nose, and coughing among other things, is cleaning the sinuses with a saline solution. Several products such as Hydrasense and Sinus Rinse can be used for this purpose as often as needed during the day.
Hopefully you have been helpful, please do not hesitate if you have any further questions.

If I have already taken a dose of the medication, can I still breastfeed my child, and if so, how long after taking the medication?

Yes, you can, without having to wait. A single exposure should not cause any problems for the baby
