Hello,
Your diabetes puts you at greater risk... However, this should not prevent you from going about your normal business as long as you follow the prevention measures that have been communicated by public health agencies, which include
  • Keeping at least 1 meter away from everyone
  • Avoiding large gatherings and clusters
  • Regular hand washing, either with Purell or with soap and water
  • Avoid contact with people who are symptomatic (fever, cough, breathing difficulties) or people who have recently returned from travel
Certainly, at this time of year, the more careful you are, the better your chances of not getting COVID-19. It also depends on the type of public work you do and the environment you are in... If your risk of exposure to potentially infected people is high (e.g. you work in a medical clinic), then it is worth having a discussion with your employer who will have to evaluate your particular situation. Otherwise, certainly any activity or travel should be limited to the "essentials" as much as possible.
I hope this answers your question. If you have any other questions or concerns, please let me know.
Sincerely,
David Tan, pharmacist
