What should I do about a cough? Should I change my toothbrush after a bout of pharyngitis?

Since Saturday, I was diagnosed with strep throat and started antibiotics for 10 days. I have 6 days left. I am generally better but I have a big cough that makes my throat hurt from irritation and it hurts/clogs my ears.

Good morning, ma'am,
Besides the cough, do you have any other symptoms such as a runny or stuffy nose? Are you currently taking any other medication?
Thank you!
As for the toothbrush, it is unlikely that it will cause an infection, but as a precautionary measure, some references indicate that it should be changed after an episode of infection.

I take Tylenol or Advil and the antibiotics are PEN VK 300mg. At first it was a dry cough but it's turning into a bit of a hacking cough. I have a stuffy nose only when I get up in the morning and I still have a sore throat and a blocked ear.

Thanks for the feedback!
If you have a stuffy or runny nose, even a little bit, I would opt for nasal hygiene with a saline solution (Hydrasense, Sinus Rinse and others), which can be done as often as needed during the day, and at least 30 minutes before bedtime. By 'cleaning' the nasal secretions, we can reduce their backward flow, which often causes coughing. It's a little unpleasant but it works wonders!
I also encourage you to drink lots of fluids, cold or hot, depending on your preference. Lozenges like Halls or Fisherman's Friend can also be used.
If the cough persists for more than a week or gets worse, or if other symptoms occur, it would be best to consult a doctor for a thorough evaluation of your condition.
