My 2.5 year old has a lot of coughing. What should I do?

Hello, my son has been sick for a few days but I am very worried about his cough. He coughs so hard that he becomes red and spits until he vomits. For the last few days he has been sleeping badly at night. After physical activity (running or jumping) he coughs a lot. In the summer he had the same case, me and dad took him to the hospital and after an x-ray it was a mini pneumonia that went away with an antibiotic. A few months later the problem started. Back at the hospital, they told us it was an ear infection. Same thing; antibiotic. And now it's happening again. Is his cough now related to the flu? We are very worried that it could be something else. Thank you for your help.

Good morning, ma'am,
How many days have you noticed this?
Does he have any other symptoms such as a runny or stuffy nose?
Have you tried anything for this problem?

Hello,
yes, he has a runny nose
I give syrup against cough, Tylenol, honey also herbal tea (herbs)
Thank you very much

Thanks for the feedback!
I strongly suggest nasal hygiene with a saline solution (Hydrasense, Sinus Rinse and others), which can be done as often as needed during the day, and at least 30 minutes before bedtime, followed by suctioning the secretions with a baby fly. By 'cleaning' the nasal secretions, we can reduce the backward flow of secretions into the throat which very often causes coughing. It's a little unpleasant but it works wonders! A teaspoon of honey can also relieve the cough.
Encourage him to drink lots of fluids too.
If the symptoms persist for more than 7 days without improvement, you should see a doctor.
I hope I've been helpful and I'm available if you have any other questions!
