I have been taking the Evra patch for 3 months. I took it off last Tuesday, but I still don't have a period. Should I take a pregnancy test?

Hello,
Generally, it is possible to have a lack of bleeding during the week without a patch. If this is happening to you for the first time and:
  • You used the patch properly (as prescribed, and without forgetting).
  • You changed the patch each week
  • You were not more than 7 days off the patch during your patch-free weeks
  • You used an additional method of birth control (condom) for the first 7 days when you started the patch (3 months ago)
There is no need for a pregnancy test. A variation in your menstrual cycle, or even no bleeding, is possible at the beginning of treatment. You can apply the next patch on the day scheduled for this purpose.
If this happens again, for example during your next week of stopping, it is important to do a test to rule out any risk of pregnancy. If the test is negative and the absence of bleeding continues, it is important to discuss this with your doctor. If you are particularly concerned about the lack of bleeding, you may want to switch to another method of birth control. A community pharmacist (at a pharmacy near you) can easily help you with this. 😊
IMPORTANT: If you are ever not satisfied that you have fully complied with the indications for taking EVRA, I strongly recommend that you take a pregnancy test immediately to rule out any possibility of pregnancy.
Hopefully I have helped you, I remain available if you have further questions.
