I am on Synthorid after having thyroid cancer. I still have a heartache. Is this related?

Hello, thank you for your question. Actually, we would need more information to answer your question. How long have you been taking your synthroid and at what dose? How long have you been experiencing nausea? Do you have any other health problems? Is it possible that you are pregnant or nursing? I am waiting for your answer
Thank you!

Hi Laurie,
I have papillary thyroid cancer. I had surgery on August 6th. A total thyroidectomy. No, I am not pregnant. My last blood test showed that I was hypothyroid. I start a new dose of medication (137 mg) tomorrow. Since August 6th I am taking 112 mg. I have been feeling this nausea for the last week
Is this nausea related?
Thank you very much.

Hello again,
Thanks for the details!
Synthroid does not usually cause nausea. However, having hypothyroidism could cause some. If the nausea is indeed caused by hypothyroidism, it should stabilize in the next few weeks with the increase in Synthroid. Hypothyroidism brings its own set of symptoms, fatigue, nausea, decreased appetite, etc. can be part of it
However, if the nausea persists, is accompanied by vomiting or fever, it would be important to see a doctor again to be reassessed
I hope to have answered your question and remain available if needed!
