Can the pharmacist prescribe antibiotics if I have sinusitis symptoms?

I have been sick for 10 days. I have sinusitis like every time I get sick (once every 6 months). Can the pharmacist now prescribe antibiotics for sinusitis? Or do I have to see a doctor?

Good morning, ma'am,
Unfortunately, pharmacists are not able to diagnose sinusitis and cannot prescribe antibiotics. For prescriptions, a consultation with a physician is required.
Generally, sinusitis resolves itself in 10 to 14 days. If they persist, you can go see a doctor for an antibiotic prescription.
Otherwise, I would have some general measures to relieve the symptoms of sinusitis for you:
  • Tylenol for pain and fever (maximum 4000 mg per day)
  • Saline solution (like Sinus Rinse) at least twice a day to clean the nose and reduce congestion
I hope this answers your question,

Do you think that a tele-medicine consultation can be useful to get a prescription? Or does the doctor have to evaluate in person? Thank you

Good morning, ma'am,
Generally, it is possible to obtain a consultation via telemedicine. However, depending on the doctor, the clinic and your condition, an in-person evaluation may be necessary.
