My periods are unusually heavy, what should I do?

32-year-old womana year ago
Hi, I started my period yesterday morning and since then I have been bleeding very heavily. I've never bled so much that it's starting to worry me... I've had several clots bigger than $2. I fill sanitary napkins in less than an hour.

Hello ma'am, I'm sorry to read about your troubles!
Would it be possible to know if you are currently taking any other medication? Do you have any known allergies or intolerances or contraindications?

I'm on antibiotics right now, cefixime - I'm at 5 days out of 10.

Thanks for the feedback.
This can happen without indicating any problems, for example following an episode of illness (or vaccination), stress, fatigue, change of schedule or even without any detectable reason. The important thing is that this situation remains temporary, i.e. less than 7 days without a significant decrease in losses.
I therefore invite you to monitor the situation and to consult a doctor if it exceeds 7 days.
Taking ibuprofen (Advil and other brands) can help reduce the amount of menstrual bleeding, just check with your pharmacist if it is safe for you.
I hope I have been helpful to you and I am available if you have any further questions!
