I have a super sore tooth, I went to the dentist today, I'm waiting to see a specialist dentist.

He prescribed me an antibiotic and advil 400 mg. I have dilaudid at home. Can I take it even though I took the advil about an hour ago? The pain is unbearable. The painful tooth has already had a root canal and is covered with a ceramic crown.

Good evening,
It is generally not recommended to use medications that have been prescribed for another indication. Furthermore, without having your complete file, it is difficult to know if Dilaudid is still a suitable molecule for you (our health condition changes over time). Therefore, it would be a good idea to check with your local pharmacist to make sure that this drug is still appropriate for you
However, as for your question, Dilaudid can indeed be taken with Advil. To reduce the side effects (nausea, drowsiness and headaches), half doses are generally recommended
The antibiotic should also take effect shortly and have a significant impact on dental pain (probably abscesses).
If you have any other questions, don't hesitate!
Have a nice evening
