Following my super acute congestion, can I use reactins or tylenols for colds/sinus while pregnant?

30-year-old womana year ago
Hi, I have been super sick the last few days. I went to my clinic and they confirmed that I had an ear infection and gave me some ear pumps and drops. However, still using the sinus rinse method, I am super congested... note that I am 25 weeks pregnant. I went to the Birth and Growth website and it says that a pregnant woman can take reactins or tylenols for colds/sinus.

Hello ma'am, I'm sorry to read about your troubles!
Cold & Sinus products and others are not recommended during pregnancy. Nasal hygiene remains the first line of treatment, and can be done as often as necessary during the day and at least 30 minutes before bedtime.
A decongestant nasal spray can be added for up to 5 days. I suggest you ask your pharmacist who can show you one with a safe ingredient, depending on their inventory and the brand of the product.
Reactin is unlikely to be effective if the congestion and discharge are from a cold, however.
If the situation persists for more than 7 days without improvement, a doctor should be consulted as a precaution.
I will be available if you have any further questions!
Sincerely,
Tom Samaha, pharmacist
