How can I stop my acne? Are there any medications that a pharmacist can prescribe?

I had acne in high school, I was treated with Acutane and my acne has come back with a vengeance since I temporarily stopped taking the birth control pill. What are my options to stop my acne? I am 20 years old, I am currently taking Alysena, I have a good skin routine with active ingredients like salicylic acid.

Hello ma'am, have you tried benzoyl peroxide available over the counter?

I have recently been using PanOxyl 4% benzoyl peroxide cleanser every third day. Alternating with various products containing salicylic acid and other active anti-acne ingredients.

In the past it was really Acutane that was able to treat my acne. Prescribed creams and other topical medications never worked in my case. It is when I stopped the contraceptive pill in September that my acne reappeared. I started taking it again in October without any change. I take alysena which is supposed to have anti-acne properties.

Thanks for the information, I'm sorry for the delay in my response, I hadn't seen the notification!
Panoxyl is still a generally effective option, there is Benzagel available without a prescription which is concentrated at 5%.
Indeed Alysena can help reduce the appearance of acne but it is not a 100% effective measure. If benxoyl perocyde is not sufficient, you should consult a physician to evaluate other options available to you.
Sincerely,
