Hello,
I was taking until 3 weeks ago the micronor contraceptive pill because I was breastfeeding. At the end of my breastfeeding, I started to take the aviane. The pharmacist told me 1 week ago to take both. And micronor and aviane. Which I did. Technically, the doctor told me that it was ok to take aviane continuously as I had done before my other pregnancies. She mentioned that the first few months I could take a break if I had spotting so that it would settle down.
Right now, I have a lot of spotting, after how long can I stop (take the 7 day break) the avian so that I am still well protected? I have been taking aviane for 18 days now.
Also, will I still be protected during the week of "break"?
Thank you in advance

Hello Mrs,
Spotting during the first weeks to months is possible following such a change. This does not necessarily indicate a problem.
You can take Aviane continuously and take a break if you wish, but the following 2 conditions must be met
You have taken Aviane for at least 21 consecutive days without missing a dose
The duration of the break does not exceed 7 days.
I hope this is helpful to you and I am available if you have any further questions!
