My heart medication makes me dizzy

31 -year-old man3 years ago
I had heart problems (pumping 40% of my blood instead of 60%) and was prescribed trandolapril. My blood pressure is normal without medication and I think it's causing a problem with the medication. I am a healthy 28 year old male 165lb and usually very active (sports minimum 3 times a week). I am often dizzy when I get up or when I drive and I wonder if I should avoid the medication?

Hello Sir, thank you for your question!!!
Trandolapril and other drugs in this class are not only prescribed to lower blood pressure, but also to preserve as much of your remaining heart function as possible
That being said, if you find that the medication is causing you adverse effects, instead of discontinuing it, it would usually be best to reduce the dose to that which is tolerated
To this end, I invite you to consult your pharmacist who, after a short consultation with you, can suggest a plan for you, while keeping your doctor informed.
I hope this has been helpful to you and if you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me!
