Hello,
In order to better answer your question, I would need some clarification:
- How long have you had your ulcer?
- Is the pain only when you swallow food or does it hurt when you swallow saliva too?
- Do you have pain only at the ulcer site or deeper in the throat?
Thank you,

Thank you for the answer!
Indeed, sometimes ulcers can be painful, especially when they are badly located as it seems to be the case for you.
Generally, it is recommended to gargle with boiled and cooled water mixed with a little salt (1 teaspoon of salt in 1 cup of water). You can gargle for 30 seconds with about 15 to 30 ml of this solution 4 to 6 times a day.
If the pain is more severe, you can also take painkillers like Tylenol or Advil.
I also suggest eating cold foods (such as ice cubes, popsicles or ice cream), which may help ease the pain.
If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to call me at the pharmacy at 418-667-3101.
