I have pain when urinating, what should I do while waiting for the results?

I have had a urinary tract infection for two weeks, the antibiotics have not worked and my doctor has advised me to go and do a urine culture at a collection center. I don't know how long it will take to get the results of the urinalysis, I'm still in pain and I don't want it to spread to my kidneys.

Hello ma'am, I'm sorry to read about your troubles! A culture may take 1 to 4 days for results While waiting for the results, acetaminophen (Tylenol and other brands) and drinking lots of fluids are your best options. Unfortunately, you will need to be patient. However, if the pain is intolerable, you will need to see your doctor to assess the need to prescribe anything.
