My son has a lot of diarrhea with Clavulin, what can we do?

37-year-old woman2 years ago
My 3 year old son has been taking clavulin for an acute ear infection (2nd ear infection in 2 weeks) for 3 days. Clavulin is the 2nd antibiotic treatment offered. Since then, he has been complaining of pain in his buttocks (as if he was constipated) but he has 2-3 episodes of diarrhea during the day. He cries so much that the pain in his buttocks seems strong... His condition does not improve, he has no appetite, little energy.

Hello Madam, I'm sorry to read about his troubles!
Unfortunately diarrhea is a common side effect of Clavulin. If you suspect this medication, I strongly suggest that you contact your pharmacist who can adjust the dose to improve tolerance and ensure the effectiveness of the product
He/she should also follow up closely with you and your son, especially considering that this is a second treatment.
Sincerely,
Tom Samaha, pharmacist
