I have a sore throat?

Hello, last night I had a little bit of a sore throat, but since I woke up this morning, it is extremely painful when I swallow or open my mouth too wide. I checked with a light and there are several small white spots on my tonsils. What can I do to treat this? Should I visit a doctor, is it "serious"?

Hello, thank you for your question!
Most of the time, these symptoms are associated with a viral infection. No treatment is therefore necessary, other than time, plenty of hydration, and rest. Lozenges can be used for local relief, as well as painkillers such as acetaminophen (Tylenol and company) or ibuprofen (Advil and company), if you have no contraindication to taking them.
If the symptoms persist for more than a week, get worse, or other symptoms appear, you should consult a doctor.
I hope I have helped you, and I am available if you have any other questions!

It's perfect, I thought I read on the internet that there is a "product" that can be found in pharmacies to clean the tonsils? Is it necessary to use it?

Also, is there a specific reason why I got this infection? Is it possible to prevent it?

There is no product to clean the tonsils. There are gargle products that can provide very temporary pain relief. They don't work long enough for it to be an option that I would recommend other than what was mentioned above.
Also, it is difficult to determine how you got these symptoms as I cannot determine if it is an infection (viral or bacterial) or otherwise.... For this reason, a medical evaluation is necessary if the symptoms persist or worsen.
