You are doing well with nasal hygiene, however I would opt for a saline solution like Hydrasense or SInus Rinse, which are more 'potent' than Salinex, to clean the sinuses and relieve congestion and coughing. This can be done as often as needed during the day and at least 30 minutes before bedtime Applying Vicks to the chest or back is also a good non-pharmacological measure. On the other hand, the use of syrup has not been shown to have any greater benefit than drinking more fluids during the day. As for coughing after a cold episode like yours, that's not unusual either; coughing is often the last symptom to go away, even after the cold is over.
