Baby has a cold and discharge from his eye?

My 4 month old baby has been coughing and having a runny nose for 5 days now. Since yesterday, he has a lot of yellowish secretions coming out of his eyes almost non-stop. The inside of his eyes are not red.

Good morning, ma'am,
The term conjunctivitis describes an inflammation of the conjunctiva. In most cases, it is viral in origin, such as in people who suffer from a cold.
What I can suggest is to use a clean wet towel to clean the area as needed, without reusing or sharing it as it can be contagious. Don't be concerned if you ever notice that both eyes are affected, this is often the case during a cold.
Just like a cold, the situation tends to go away after 5 to 7 days at most.
If, however, the situation persists for more than 7 days or gets worse (for example, the secretions become greenish throughout the day), you should consult a doctor or optometrist.
I hope I've been helpful and will be available if you have any further questions!
Sincerely,
Tom Samaha, pharmacist

Okay, thanks. Sorry for the duplicate question, I thought the other one didn't work. Have a nice day!
