Is metronidazole safe during pregnancy?

I was prescribed metronidazole 500 mg for bacterial vaginosis. However my husband and I are trying to have a baby and they mention on the pamphlet to refer to a doctor or pharmacist but I don't have a family doctor. I wanted to know if there was any risk? Thank you :) good day
