I lost my mucous plug, does this mean that I am about to give birth?

I am 40 weeks pregnant and have lost my mucus plug several times in less than 24 hours. There is no bleeding, only mucus.

The loss of the mucous plug can indeed mean that the body is preparing for childbirth. However, it is impossible to predict when labor will begin after the loss of the plug.
