Hello Sir,
Generally, there are some red flags in children that require to seek help from doctor. If your child has any of the signs stated below, I recommend consulting a doctor, so the faster option between your family doctor or walk-in clinics would be better.
Here are some general signs to consult a doctor:
Child over 3 months with a rectal temperature ≥ 40°C
Child under 3 months old with a rectal temperature ≥ 38°C
Child under 2 years old with a fever that persist for more than 24-48 hours
Child over 2 years old with fevers that persist more than 3 days with or without treatment
Child who develops spots or rash
Child is unable to drink fluids or vomiting or repeated diarrhea
Irritable, very sleepy, or hard to wake up
Stiff neck
History of seizures or impaired immune function
Here are some tips on how to deal with fever:
Tylenol to lower the temperature (max 5 doses in 24 hours)
Do not use alcohol or ice for body sponging or baths
Wear lightweight clothing, remove blankets, and keep room temperature at around 20°C
Drink a lot of fluids to avoid dehydration
I hope this answers your question!
