What can I take that would be safe during my pregnancy? Are there any lozenges that are safe? Thank you!

Hello! For a few days I have had tickling in my throat which leads me to cough frequently. I do sinus rinses 2 to 3 times a day. This cough is affecting my sleep and I don't know what to take to relieve it. I am pregnant, this is my constraint.

Hello Mrs,
Cough drops with honey or mint for example are safe during pregnancy. Otherwise, if you are not taking any other medication and do not have any allergies, a cough syrup with dextrometorphan can be used during pregnancy to relieve a mild cough.
  • If your cough has mucus, you can try Benylin Mucus Cough.
  • For a dry cough, you can try Benylin Dry Cough.
  • Take 2 teaspoons (10 ml) every 6 to 8 hours as needed, up to a maximum of 8 teaspoons (40 ml)/day. If your cough is mostly at night, you don't have to take it during the day.
  • Dextrometorphan may cause drowsiness, so be careful if you use it during the day.
You can continue with the sinus rinse, and be sure to drink water as well.
Have a good day,
