Would it be possible to get a treatment for my urinary tract infection directly from the pharmacy or do I have to go back to the clinic?

Hello, I don't have any known health problems but I often have urinary tract infections. I have had prescriptions a few times for this. I am sure I have one now!

The pharmacist will be able to give you a treatment if you have had a prescription from a doctor or nurse practitioner in the last 12 months, if the symptoms are the same as with previous infections.
However, if you have had more than 3 treatments in the last 12 months or if there are any red flags, you should see a doctor again.

Thank you so much! However, I called the pharmacy near me yesterday and a clerk at the prescription counter told me that the pharmacists would be unable to help me because the treatments I received recently for my urinary tract infections were not renewable. Is this possible?

My symptoms are the same as my previous infections over the last 12 months.

Even if the prescription is not renewable, by respecting the criteria stated above, the pharmacist can re-prescribe.
