Is it normal not to feel your IUD?

27-year-old woman2 years ago
Hello, a week ago I had a copper IUD inserted (Mona Lisa). I read on the internet that we should be able to feel the wires. Should I consult? I have an appointment in a month, if I protect myself (condom) until then I do not have to worry?

Hello,
No, the majority of women will not feel the threads of their IUD. The same is true for the partner during sexual relations. On the contrary, when an IUD has not been put in properly or has moved outside the uterus, women feel symptoms (abdominal cramps, contractions, bleeding).
Therefore, I recommend that you go to your follow-up appointment in 1 month without taking any additional steps.
