A buildup of earwax can cause difficulty in hearing. It is extremely important to never insert anything into the ear, including Q-tips, as this can push what is there further into the ear canal and pile it up...
Several solutions can be tried to dislodge earwax. Applying a few drops of oil (olive, vegetable, baby oil, etc.) twice a day for 4-5 days can help soften the earwax and aid in its removal.
If it doesn't work, or you have other symptoms such as pain, dizziness, or whatever, you will need to see a doctor.
