How to treat an itchy and bleeding scalp?

22-year-old woman2 years ago
Hello, This has been ongoing for approx a week, had before when young but no idea why. I have about 4/5 slightly raised sores on my head that are very itchy and scab, sores are bleeding and weeping. Sores are quite spread out. Scalp is very itchy. No white or yellow flakes or scales. Small white dandruff in hair more when itching scalp but no white scales on scalp. No burning I have some hair loss assuming caused by pcos (diagnosed) Tried medicated shampoos but painful on open sores. Washing frequently and massaging scalp but no effect.

Hi! Is it possible for you to upload a few pictures to see the affected areas?

Thank you for the information!
You mention having tried certain medicated shampoos. Did you try Head & Shoulders (for sensitive scalp), Selsun or Nizoral?

I've tried head and shoulders and Nizoral but just irritated it more.

I see. These are the usual treatments for this kind of situation. There is one more option for last resort, without a prescription that is. It is tar-based (yes, tar), it's a tad unpleasant but works very well. It's Neutrogena T. Your pharmacist will be able to show it to you.
If that doesn't work however, a medical consult will be necessary.
Kind regards
