Do you know if there is anything I can do in the meantime?

Hello. I think my baby has thrush on the inside of the upper lip with mini spots on the roof of her mouth. It seems to have infected the breasts. I am not seeing the baby's doctor until October 18.

Hello,
When you say: "it seems to have infected the breasts", are you breastfeeding? What are your symptoms?
32-year-old woman · 3 years ago
Yes I breastfeed 3x a day and the rest bottle because of lack of milk. The symptoms are sensitivity to the nipple but which does not prevent the suckling. then like a needle stroke. In baby's mouth these vrmt there inner upper lip to large, a spot on lower lip then the puck seems to have small white spots

Right. Congratulations on your breastfeeding, as every feeding is good for you and your baby's health.
If thrush is diagnosed, it is recommended that both mom and child be treated. And since there is no longer an over-the-counter treatment (gentian violet removed from the market) to treat the child, I would wait for your appointment in 4 days. Is your child's doctor also your doctor?
You will need to disinfect all objects that come in contact with baby's mouth.

Thank you very much...Unfortunately no...I don't have a family doctor. Can the thrush be very dangerous example if I wait for the appointment on Monday?
Nathalie Gagnon · 3 years ago
No, it's not dangerous.
Have you tried gently rubbing the white spots in his mouth? If so, what do you see next? How old is he anyway?
If the list of symptoms convinces you that it is breast candidiasis associated with your child's thrush, there is nothing to stop you from starting a treatment for yourself: miconazole or clotrimazole on the nipple and areola after each feeding until your baby is finished or after 1 week without lesions or pain Do not wash or wipe before feeding.
And don't forget to disinfect objects that come into contact with your baby's mouth, even if it means changing the nipples and pacifiers as soon as your baby's treatment starts.

In fact I'm not 100% sure that it is. Because yes I tried to clean! As soon as I clean it up, but is it the fact that I wet my lip. Because it comes back after a drink..but I still have sensitive nipples and needle sensation..my baby is 5 months old. I had read about the cream after each feeding but I was wondering if I should clean before the next feeding, if there was any danger of the cream touching the baby's mouth. I still clean the pacifiers and chewables and I still have them sterilized. Thank you for everything

So, no, there is no danger of the cream getting into baby's mouth, although with the withdrawal of gentian violet from the market, some health professionals recommend using the same cream in baby's mouth as on mom's breasts. The breast is not cleaned before feeding to avoid further irritation.
