I have red spots on my penis?

24 -year-old man3 years ago
Hello, for the past week or so, I have had small red dots appear on my penis that were painful when I pulled my foreskin back or ran my finger over it. I have only had one sexual partner with whom I had unprotected sex, and the pain and spots came about an hour later, however a month ago I did a comprehensive test which was negative. How long does it take for a new generation HIV rock test to be reliable? Do you know what could be at fault? Will I have to be tested again? Could it be HIV knowing that my test was negative?

Hello, thank you for your question!
The presence of HIV can be detected using the home tests you mention, but if the result is positive, or if there are doubts about its reliability, a blood test is required to confirm.
As for the symptoms you describe, you will unfortunately have to contact a physician, as what you describe is beyond the scope of practice of the pharmacy.

Hello, thank you for your answer
Just to clarify, it is not a home test that I did but a complete blood test that was negative 3 weeks ago (lab test done about 2-3 weeks after taking the risk)
Was it too early or is the result reliable (I went to the lab after my doctor prescribed it)

Oh, thank you for the clarification!
It is suggested that you be tested regularly, every 3 to 6 months, if you have a partner who is HIV positive, or if you think you have a partner who is HIV positive, a "window period" (period between the relationship and the risk of developing this type of infection) can vary between 2 weeks and 3 months.
You can refer to your doctor, or the clinic where you were tested, for details on when to get a second test and/or if it is necessary.
I hope I have been helpful to you and I am available if you have any further questions!
