Hello, I have had blood in my stool twice (not on the paper). Light red and once I had a dark spot on my stool. I have no pain but it worries me. Yes I have had diahrroea as well as hard stools. Since I wrote, it hasn't happened again.

If this happens again, Anusol Plus ointment, available without a prescription, can be applied to the irritated area (inside and outside as needed) twice a day and after each bowel movement. Avoid sitting on the toilet bowl for long periods of time, as this can make the situation worse. Get up as soon as you're done (don't read the newspaper or use your cell phone for example) I would also recommend using unscented wet wipes, a wet washcloth or a bidet for hygiene instead of toilet paper for the time being, to give the mucous membranes a chance to heal.
