I had sex and started bleeding, I am on birth control pills but it was not time to fall in my week. There was a little bit of heat, what should I do? Go see a doctor?

Hello,
There may be bleeding if this is your first sexual encounter or if the vagina was not well lubricated during penetration. A lubricant can be used to reduce the friction if you feel that it heats up during penetration because the micro cracks that this creates in the vaginal wall can cause bleeding.
If you have had unprotected sex in the past few months, it would be a good idea to get tested for STIs by contacting your local CLSC, as bleeding after sex can be a symptom of an STI.
Finally, if the bleeding is recurrent, yes, it would be better to consult a doctor.
I hope this answers your question,
Marie-Laurence Gauthier, pharmacist.
