I have been bleeding and I have had an IUD for 4 months, I have never had bleeding before

1-What brand of IUD do you have?

2-What method of contraception were you taking before and when was it stopped?

3- Is the bleeding continuous? Is it heavy (like a menstruation) or just spotting?

With the use of Kyleena, bleeding is to be expected for the first 3 to 6 months after insertion. Thereafter, bleeding will decrease in quantity and frequency.

Approximately 12% of users have no more bleeding after 1 year, while for about 25% of them, light bleeding remains (but 1 to 2 episodes of light bleeding per 90 days).

So, in conclusion, I wouldn't worry right away. That being said, if the current bleeding (which has been going on for 1 week), doesn't stop - or decrease - in a few days (as a normal period would), I suggest that you seek help, as the IUD may have been expelled from the uterus (causing an increase in menstrual flow).
