I have a lot of nosebleeds?

I take a nasal cortisone mometasone against allergic rhinitis 1dose per nostril in the evening, for 15 days, with a claritin. In the morning I also take a claritin.

Hello, thank you for your question!
This is a more or less common side effect with this type of product. The first recommendation is to suspend the mometasone nasal for 3-7 days.
I also urge you to implement these non-pharmacological measures if not already done:
  • Nasal hygiene with saline (Hydrasense, Sinus Rinse and others), which can be done as often as needed during the day, and at least 30 minutes before bedtime. By 'cleaning' the nasal secretions, we can decrease their backward flow, which often causes coughing, congestion and sneezing.
  • You can also use a saline-based nasal spray to moisturize the nasal mucosa. A gel is also available (Rhinaris Gel/Secaris Gel) depending on your preference
  • If possible, avoid blowing your nose too vigorously for the next few days
If this happens again with mometasone, I strongly suggest you talk to your pharmacist who may suggest an alternative that can cause less mucosal dryness and/or bleeding.
Hopefully I have been helpful, I remain available if you have any further questions!
